Prayer
- Have I heard about all that God has done?
- Do I praise the Lord even when things are not going well?
- Am I living like God is in control over my life?
Habakkuk 3:2-4
2 Lord, I have heard of your fame; I stand in awe of your deeds, Lord. Repeat them in our day, in our time make them known; in wrath remember mercy.
3 God came from Teman, the Holy One from Mount Paran*. His glory covered the heavens and his praise filled the earth.
4 His splendor was like the sunrise; rays flashed from his hand, where his power was hidden.
Have I heard about all that God has done?
____
Habakkuk 3:17-18
17 Though the fig tree does not bud and there are no grapes on the vines, though the olive crop fails and the fields produce no food, though there are no sheep in the pen and no cattle in the stalls,
18 yet I will rejoice in the Lord, I will be joyful in God my Savior.
Do I praise the Lord even when things are not going well?
____
Habakkuk 3:19
19 The Sovereign Lord is my strength; he makes my feet like the feet of a deer, he enables me to tread on the heights.**
Am I living like God is in control over my life?
____
“Crop failure and the death of animals would devastate Judah. But Habakkuk affirmed that even in the times of starvation and loss, he would still rejoice in the Lord. Habakkuk’s feelings were not controlled by the events around him but by faith in God’s ability to give him strength. When nothing makes sense, and when troubles seem more than you can bear, remember that God gives strength. Take your eyes off your difficulties and look to God.” (This quote is from the commentary on page 1891 in the Life Application Study Bible NIV Large Print Edition published by Tyndale House Publishers, Inc. and Zondervan Publishing House. © 1995)
How do I follow Jesus?
