Prayer
Listen for the repeated word in the Bible verses.
1. Do I remember Gods word and turn away from sin before I fall away?
2. Do I understand the righteousness of God and his perfect judgement?
3. Can I trust in the Lord to satisfy my desires and help me live a pure life?
Hosea 7:5-7 NIV
”On the day of the festival of our king the princes become inflamed with wine, and he joins hands with the mockers. Their hearts are like an oven; they approach him with intrigue. Their passion smolders all night; in the morning it blazes like a flaming fire. All of them are hot as an oven; they devour their rulers. All their kings fall, and none of them calls on me.“
(Life Application Study Bible talks about how these leaders hearts had lust for power and how they ignored God and his word)
1. Do I remember Gods word and turn away from sin before I fall away?
Psalms 11:4-7 NIV
”The Lord is in his holy temple; the Lord is on his heavenly throne. He observes everyone on earth; his eyes examine them. The Lord examines the righteous, but the wicked, those who love violence, he hates with a passion. On the wicked he will rain fiery coals and burning sulfur; a scorching wind will be their lot. For the Lord is righteous, he loves justice; the upright will see his face.“
2. Do I understand the righteousness of God and his perfect judgement?
1 Corinthians 7:7-9 NIV
”I wish that all of you were as I am. But each of you has your own gift from God; one has this gift, another has that. Now to the unmarried and the widows I say: It is good for them to stay unmarried, as I do. But if they cannot control themselves, they should marry, for it is better to marry than to burn with passion.“
3. Can I trust in the Lord to satisfy my desires and help me live a pure life?
What was the repeated word?
How do I follow Jesus?
I trust in Him to satisfy all of my desires. I turn to Him for help when I start to slip. I worship and thank Him for his amazing grace!
